Kylee::newborn

A friend of a friend...I love meeting people that way and I especially love meeting their newborn. Sarah contacted me through a friend's referral and Kylee soon arrived as Sarah and Marty's 4th of July baby. And a little independence may become one of her defining character traits...:)

Sarah is a simply gorgeous new mom:

In between diaper changes and a feeding, I take this time in a newborn session to snag a few detail shots of the nursery and any unique things that are intrinsically this family's. Sarah and Marty certainly didn't disappoint on that score! The nursery is festooned with butterflies and Marty's heritage of beautiful woodworking left my jaw on the floor.

This is a rocker that has long been in the family and Marty worked to restore it and have it reupholstered. I didn't know I could say this about something made of wood, but it is truly a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

A chair made even more special by those who are rocked by it:

In addition to the majestic chair is this simple, yet gorgeously built cradle. The smooth lines of the wood's grain are calming to the eye and incredibly well tailored for its precious cargo.

Deservedly, Marty is proud of his craftsmanship, but it'd be safe to say that his daughter is his crowning work of art.

I think Sarah would agree as well:

And while we included unique qualities from Marty's side, we had to incorporate a touch of Sarah with her favorite bloom combined with the favorite thing she's ever grown:

 Sarah & Marty: Thank you so much for having me! It was a treat to take a tour of your land & crops as you wait for harvest time. I must say that this six pound result of your labors really is the crown jewel of the farm. While you may grow organic vegetables and herbs, Kylee is a beautiful hybrid of the two of you. I can't wait to see how she grows like a weed in the next 6 months!

Blessings,

Carrie
