Alison + Mark

Only the good Lord could orchestrate a union like this one, and I use the word "orchestrate" purposely. Alison had graduated from University of Northern Iowa and gained employment in a school district band program in north western Iowa. Mark was already residing in Sioux City teaching band at his alma mater with a rich history in jazz. From her seat in the trumpet section in the Sioux City Community Band, Ali noticed this adorable french horn player and thankfully, since she was sitting behind him, I'm sure she got eyefuls of Mark whenever she wanted.

Gradually, Mark noticed her too and when Ali first mentioned his name to me, I could see this light in her eyes that spread across her face and made her smile. Her smile, which already lights up a room, grew ever wider when Mark was involved in the conversation. I couldn't have been more honored when Ali asked me to photograph her wedding and I couldn't wait to meet Mark!

We kept our fingers crossed that the rain would hold off and amazingly, it didn't drop a drop until we were all tucked inside, partying the night away at the reception. :)

After getting all spiffy, Ali + Mark had their First Look at Mark's alma mater and where he taught: Sioux City North High School. And yes, we even had a few students drive by and honk their horns!

I have to pause a moment and express my sincere gratitude to my second shooter, Colby. And I was so thankful that Ali wanted a second shooter there. Because it's usually a second shooter who nabs a shot like this first one below, while I'm in position to nab the next shot at the front of the altar.

I also have to give Colby mad props for having fun and experimenting with my off camera flash during the first dances. I'm so proud of him and thankful for his hard work alongside me all day. He even caught a tear on Ali's dad, Bob's, cheek!! The teacher in me is so proud of my young grasshopper. :)

Ali + Mark: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME!!! I couldn't be more honored or humbled that you would ask me to document your gorgeous day. Even if we weren't related, I would've still felt at home with you and your families, and the palpable love in the room left me blown away. I'm not sure I've seen so many kisses & hugs, not just between a bride and her groom, but between the bride, groom and their guests and family. So much love and laughter will, I'm sure, carry you through so much of your marriage.

Much love + Blessings!

Carrie
