Class of 2021 : Shaffer

Sessions have been a great way to take a break from everything happening in our world these days. But recent events around Shaffer’s session had a slight cause for concern when we wondered if there’d be protests near the locations we had chosen. Thankfully, there were none scheduled for that particular evening and we had a fantastic time! We even snuck in a few of Shaffer with his younger sister, Shelby, so that Mom & Dad could update the frames/walls at home.

Shaffer is one stylish fellow and I loved showcasing his outfit choices!

At the time of his session, all school facilities were closed unless you had superintendent approval. We waited until after July 1 till facilities were a little more flexible to the movement we’d need in the building to make these shots happen. I am THRILLED with the Class of 2021: they have already made me a better photographer and pushed me to try new things with results I’m really proud of.

Shaffer works with the Black Shirt Crew and announcing of events at NHS, he’s also an incredible singer and musical theatre performer. We combined all of these into one shot by pulling out the baby grand to the backstage area and turned on the backstage blue lights. We combined that with an old fashioned microphone (thank you NPAC manager, Mike Grubb!) and we had all of it in one photo:

Shaffer is also a manager of our NHS Basketball team who won State 3A at The Well right before the world shut down. We brought the mic with us to the gym and tried some new things as well with the bling he’d earned by being a part of the historic team of fantastic young men, then hopped out to the stadium to document the track portion of his high school career: (see what I mean about needing the facilities to be a little more flexible?)

Shaffer & Family: You guys are amazing and I’m so thankful for YOUR flexibility and willingness/patience to let me try out new things. I hope you’re as thrilled with the results as I am! All the best in this coming school year and keep me posted on Shaffer’s plans post-high school.

Be well,

Carrie
