Class of 2021 : Carter

I’ve had a few conversations with Carter over the course of the last 18 months or so that have shown me just how much emotion this guy feels. Whether we were discussing his future in show choir, trying to persuade him to take my photography class at NHS, or hearing the sense of desperation in his voice for Friday Night Lights this fall, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching his brain tick. When Carter latches onto his “Why” (“We’re wearing masks so we can have Friday Night Lights, Mrs. Krupke. We gotta have Friday Night Lights!”) he goes gang busters and is ALL. IN.

Cue his senior session when he shows up to his sunRISE session earlier than I do, hair in place, outfits prepped and truck looking as country-song ready as ever. I knew when I pulled up that we were going to make some magic!

We headed over to the stadium and I was determined on two scores: shoot it differently than I have this season or ever before & don’t disturb the strength & conditioning training happening around the track and on the turf. I think it’s safe to say we succeeded: (don’t forget to notice the choir robe & stole over his shoulder-Carter is a fantastic show choir performer & musician!)

Gosh, when this kid smiles, he uses his WHOLE FACE! And his serious looks are magazine cover-worthy:

Carter-THANK YOU for all your prep work, for arriving EARLY & enthusiastically for our time together. That energy is contagious & I hope you keep spreading it to those around you because it’s definitely something worth catching. ‘Rona’s got NOTHING on you and I know your senior year will be amazing because of your incredible, resilient attitude.

You are awesome-don’t ever forget that.

Be Well & I’m rootin’ for Friday Night Lights (safely!) too,

Carrie
