Father's Day

Epiphany! Spending time with my dad on Saturday for an early Father's Day-out together gave me such insight to mon pere.  Gerard drove us all out to lunch in our '49 Pontiac Chieftain and then to errands that Dad needed done. That's all it took! Spending time. Listening to the radio this morning, the dj's were interviewing people who called in to see how they had spent their own Father's Day. The most often seen activity of celebration? Spending time.

When I spoke to my dad on the phone after out Father's Day-out, he actually thanked me three times for our day together. I don't think I've ever heard him be so grateful towards me before! What a blessing and I'm so glad we were able to serve him through his love language for his special day. On the way home from errands, Gerard handed the wheel over to Dad and he "got a kick" out of driving a car that came out when he was 17. The day was topped with his favorite dessert-a few scoops of ice cream. It really does come down to the simple things.

Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day Dad!
