Emily : Class of 2020

Most of the time, I will know my seniors from previously encountering them in the Norwalk School District. Little did I know when I photographed the NHS Track Meet in April, I was encountering Emily chasing down a 4x800 relay record that her team of 4 would eventually shatter later in the season. When we got together for her senior session, I was greeted by a wide smile, perfectly curled locks and the brightest blue eyes framed by lashes for days. I almost didn’t recognize the girl I’d photographed at the Track Meet who had her long hair in a pony tail braid and was sweating her heart out on the track!

Speaking of the track, we headed to the Norwalk Stadium first to document her Cross Country and Track participation throughout her high school career and I got schooled in what all the symbols on the track actually mean! Namely, the “handoff triangle” as I call it….

We headed downtown and Emily’s main request was getting photos with the Des Moines skyline in them. We grabbed this option on our way into downtown and then headed farther in:

I absolutely love this spot in the later afternoon/evening hours! There’s an apartment building right across from us that reflects the sun’s light perfectly and Emily even got a few cat calls from passers-by while we were here! (That’s the one with the really big laugh that you’ll see a few photos down…) I loved her dress just as much as our location (even Gerard commented on it when he saw these images-it’s just that much FUN!)

Our last spot, we headed to Maffit Reservoir and the light was divine! Even though Emily had wanted to emphasize downtown, both she and her sweet Mama were thankful for the nature option Maffit gave to their portrait portfolio. The outfit was just as perfect as the light and we were there till closing time!

Emily & Nicole: As I said in my text to you after our session was done, my cheeks were sore from all the smiling and laughing we did during our time together! Thank you for a lovely time and for creating beautiful photos with me to boot. I’m so grateful for your support of my business and I feel like I made some new friends too-what a joy! Blessings on your senior year, Emily-it’s going to be awesome!

All the Best,

Carrie
