Paul + Macy : Engaged!

I can’t believe I’m old enough to photograph a student’s engagement session. oof! You might remember Paul & his dapper bow tie from the class of 2016, so theoretically, yup, they’re old enough to get married! Paul met Macy through a Christian group on their college campus & as they both became leaders in the group, they also grew closer to each other. Paul coordinated efforts to surprise Macy with a candlelit evening picnic to pop the question and now, here we sat at St. Kilda’s in Valley Junction documenting their love for one another.

We chose a coffee shop & books because that’s what they’ve done together for many of their dates: take a good book to get a good drink in good company. It was here that Paul realized he’s playing second fiddle to the ring he bought Macy as we highlighted how sparkly it was in St. Kilda’s lighting…. :)

We headed over to (ironically) the West Des Moines Library but we didn’t go inside because the light outside was too divine to pass up!

A quick outfit change and we hopped over to Maffitt Reservoir where the light became even more holy (see what I did there?) Both Paul & Macy were such troopers trekking through the high Queen Anne’s Lace all in the name of golden-hour photos. :)

Paul + Macy: You two are too cute! Thank you so much for allowing me the immense honor of photographing the start of a new branch of the your family tree. I’m so appreciative of your perspective and how you hold things with open palms lifted to the sky as we navigate planning a wedding in a pandemic, fluid situation. I wish you all the best in these next couple months in St. Louis and we’ll see you with on what promises to be a lovely 40degree day with a light dusting of snow for perfect winter photos! ;)

Be well,

Carrie
