Emily : Class of 2022
Oh. my. word. When the first photo in this post is among the first 5 images of a shoot, you know it’s going to be a good one! Emily’s session was a breeze because of her pre-planning prowess with outfit and location logistics. She’s so good at it, in fact, that she’s been an assistant to several of her friends that I have the pleasure of photographing this summer and has come along on their sessions to help me with social media & the student with their outfits/accessories etc. What a joy!
We had a beautiful evening (before it got ridiculously hot in July) here in Iowa and we started our time together at the Art Center when the roses were in full bloom. What a beautiful compliment to her outfit choices!
We headed downtown to East Village area for her theme of “quaint downtown feel”. On her questionnaire, Emily mentioned that she is inspired by Taylor Swift, not necessarily because of her songwriting or fame, but because of “how hard she worked and continues to work to get to where she is. I want to be as hardworking and passionate about my career and other aspects of my life as she is about songwriting and performing.” Leading NHS’s Color Guard as a section leader, nailing solos in jazz band on trumpet, her dancing skills in show choir (and I haven’t even mentioned academics yet!), Emily thrives with To-Do lists and can’t live without them. When you’re involved in so many things, I can see why!
Emily : Your session was a beautiful night in the midst of a challenging time in my own family as my dad’s health was in rapid decline. Thank you for all your pre-planning that made it so easy for me to do my work as your photographer. I am honored you chose me to document this time in your life & I’m so thankful for your grace and understanding while you see Behind-The-Scenes of other shoots as an assistant. You truly are seeing the “nitty gritty” and you do so with a smile on your face, lending a helping hand. “Thank You” just doesn’t cover it, but THANK YOU.
