Baby Six Update

You can read the first story about Baby Six HERE. We received our genetic testing back and were relieved to know that for all the main genetic challenges that they test for, the risks of this Baby having any of them, the chances are less than 1 in 10,000. (insert sigh of relief & gratitude) Additionally, at the top of that test result, the sex of Baby Six was revealed. I received the test result in a pdf doc from my doctor and Gerard was picking up groceries. I called him right away because the kids were literally pounding on my bedroom door to know. Gerard was at the store to pick up random things, but I whispered to him to pick up cupcake mix, frosting and food coloring. “Make sure there’s a red or pink in the box!”

We ate dinner, I made the cupcakes and while the kids were taking a bath, and then injected the cupcakes with pink frosting, topping them with white. Laidy & Loch blitzed down the stairs, they gave their requests for a boy (Loch) or a girl (Laidy) and while Loch took his sweet time taking the paper wrapper off the cupcake, Laidy dug in and got to the answer first. Cue the squeals of delight and grins from ear to ear. Loch had yet to take his first bite!

Thankfully, all imaging of Baby Six at her 20 week ultrasound checks out to be developing as it should-spine, brain, heart, kidneys, everything is right on track. After the last 12 months our family has had, I keep waiting for catastrophe to strike but as my Mom said, “She is the best thing that has come out of 2021. Take it and RUN!” :)

I’m not able run in my current state (or let’s be real, EVER), but I’ll wobble as fast as I can into 2022 and some good news.

a punching right fist that clocked the ultrasound wand :) She’s a fighter!
