Katie : A Downtown Des Moines Senior Session - Class of 2024

Every “Katie” I know has a calm, reserved demeanor, knows what she wants and will go after it while bringing others along with her successes. In my own family, my “Katie” is my older sister, so I always think that anyone named Katie is the older one! Not so with this particular Katie, (by just one minute)! She was really calm during our time together, sweetly asked to incorporate a few ideas of her own, which I loved, and helped her twin sis have success with her own photos along the way. It really was a great evening all around!

Katie’s curls held SO WELL the entire night - I was thoroughly impressed. But what really got my attention to work quickly for her was the black leather pants that she was donning in summer humid heat!

Switching gears to jeans, a high pony and more nature, we headed to Maffitt and just chased good light!

The sun surprised us and granted us about 45 minutes more than we anticipated, so we headed back to the girls’ high school stadium (for Anna) and tennis courts (for Katie) to get a few of their athletic photos taken care of. They’ll be back for more when other athletic jerseys become available! The outtakes from these are pretty hilarious because even though Katie’s parents and Anna were standing behind her, she still got bored by a few tennis balls in the attempts on these images. Seriously, such a good sport to get the end result she wanted. (For the behind the scenes, head over to my Instagram @CarrieKrupkePhotography for her reel.)

Katie - I loved getting to know both you and Anna in a somewhat high-pressure situation. It wasn’t like a relaxed summer barBQ, but an event where we had to make requests of each other for a desired end goal. I’m thankful for how well we were able to navigate both you and Anna in the same evening. It was such a joy to watch the two of you work together to trouble-shoot, take turns (as a Mama of littles, the hope that my children will someday be able to do this grew while watching you two do it so smoothly!), and enjoy the process. I feel like I gained a few more friends in the halls of our high school - thank you for trusting me with these important images in this stage of your life.

All the best,

Carrie
