Daniel : An Airplane Senior Session Add-On

This kind of a session has always been a Bucket List item for me and we knocked it out in the mandatory 30 minute timeframe. Daniel and I faced a bunch of various restrictions while on the tarmac photographing him with his training plane but we made the most of it and I’m proud of the various angles and compositions we were able to create together! Starting the day at the airport is always a beautiful way to start your day! (Says the daughter of a pilot & flight attendant) ;)

We added this to his senior session because at the time we did the bulk of his photos in the summer, he didn’t have access to the tarmac. His flying lessons hadn’t started yet and I’m so glad we waited until October to get this in. Daniel had a certain confidence about him in the hangar and the cockpit that was different from the swagger he had in July. The tarmac and cockpit was definitely Daniel’s happy place and I’m so glad we got to document this at the airport!

Daniel’s training plane is so lightweight (only 750lbs!) that we couldn’t have him sit or stand on a wing or the nose, but we worked around the perimeter of it and the cockpit to do our best!

It was a beautiful, crisp fall morning and I’m thankful to have the opportunity to photograph you in this season of your life while you pursue your pilot licensure, Daniel! I read a quote in my dad’s pilot association magazine once that has always stuck with me: “Because we flew, we envy no man on earth.”

Be the envy of everyone, Daniel and have fun!!

Best,

Carrie
