Nathan : Class of 2026
From Baby Cheeks to RAGBRAI Roads | Nathan’s Senior Session
I’ve known Nathan’s parents since 2004—back when his mom and I were roommates for a summer in college. I was there the night Shawn proposed and Lauren came home with a ring on her finger. Watching their story unfold—through marriage, through life’s battles, through raising four amazing kids—has been one of the sweetest privileges of my adult life.
Now, their oldest is heading into his senior year.
Nathan may not have the baby cheeks anymore (though I still remember them vividly!), but he’s grown into a young man with strength, grit, and focus. He can hoist a bike over his head with one hand. He trains like a pro. He mentors like a leader. And he solves Rubik’s cubes that would leave the rest of us stumped.
His senior session started at Ewing Park—with his pet ferret, Panda, who actually does resemble a tiny panda! Then we headed into more classic portraits before driving out to RAGBRAI headquarters, where Nathan lights up in a way I didn’t even have to ask for. This is clearly his happy place.
He’s ridden RAGBRAI multiple times, including the hardest course on record… and the hottest one. This year’s ride is rumored to be the easiest—and he’s bringing his younger brother along for the adventure. His coach met us for the shoot, and I was struck by the genuine bond between them. He’s been pouring into Nathan’s life and leadership for years.
We ended at Joshua Christian Academy—where Nathan will graduate—and highlighted his passion for archery. I’ve never photographed an archer before, but let me tell you: being on the other side of that arrow while he was in focus mode? It was clear—this guy is going places.
The focus that steadies his aim and the discipline that gets him through those long rides? Those traits will carry him far. And with a mind for problem-solving (and Rubik’s cubes!), Nathan’s got the tools to build whatever future he envisions.
This session was more than just photos. It was legacy, full circle, and celebration all in one.
Lauren + Shawn + Nathan: Thank you so much for entrusting this season of life for Nathan to me! What a joy to watch him grow up - you’ve done a fantastic job, ‘rents! Nathan - I look forward to cheering you on for RAGBRAI this summer and throughout your senior year’s events!!
Take care,
Carrie
