Amanda + Trevor : An Urbandale Deer Ridge Park Family Session

From Six Months to Grand Slams | The Huisman Session

There are some families I photograph that just crack me up—every single year. And Amanda and Trevor’s crew are at the top of that list.

With three boys—Graham, Blaine, and Vaughn—Amanda is, without question, outnumbered. But she holds her own with grace, style, and just the right amount of humor to keep up with this non-stop trio.

These boys are hilarious. Every time we do a session, I leave with cheeks sore from laughing. They’re goofy, quick-witted, and constantly making each other (and the rest of us) laugh. I always wonder what they’ll be like at 25, 23, and 20… because I’m pretty sure the vibe will be the same—just bigger sneakers and deeper voices.

And they’re not just funny. They’re ambidextrous athletes who keep you guessing. One throws lefty, bats righty, plays ping pong like a champ, and the next one’s got his own combo. It’s amazing to watch—and probably a coach’s dream (or headache? 😂). Either way, these guys are built for movement and mischief.

In the middle of it all are Amanda and Trevor—the calm in the storm. These boys swirl around them like a whirlwind of laughter and energy, and their parents just smile through it with steady love and presence.

Amanda, in particular, has a serious eye for design. She picks incredible outfits, scouts unique photo locations, and sends me previews so I can mentally map out the shoot. As a professional marketer, she just sees beauty in space and color in a way that always makes our sessions shine. I’m so humbled that she continues to choose me year after year.

And what a history we have. I’ve been photographing them since Graham was just six months old. Then Blaine came along. Then Vaughn. For 11 years now, we’ve documented growth, milestones, and personality in motion. We’ve shared dinners, memories, and more laughter than I can count. This isn’t just a client relationship—it’s a true friendship.

Amanda and Trevor, thank you for trusting me with your family’s story for over a decade. Watching your boys grow—and grow into themselves—is a gift I don’t take for granted.
