Jonanne + Alex

From Wedding Bells to Toddler Races | Alex + Jonanne’s Crew

Some families you photograph once.
Others… you photograph for a lifetime.

Jonanne and Alex are one of those legacy couples I’ll never forget. I photographed their wedding back in 2015, and every time I see them, it’s like picking up a conversation mid-sentence. Familiar, steady, full of warmth.

Their oldest, Benson, joined the family seven years ago—and now sweet Theo is racing (not walking—racing) his way through toddlerhood at one year old. He’s all charm and energy, and Benson is already stepping into the role of big brother with kindness and care. Watching their bond is something special.

Alex and Jonanne are just salt of the earth people. The kind you root for. The kind who make you feel like home.

I’ve known Jonanne since our days playing in orchestra together at Drake University. She still shares her gift through the Des Moines Symphony, and I love that my kids now get to watch her perform live downtown at the Civic Center. That connection—across seasons—is something I’ll always treasure.

And Alex? He’s every bit the father and husband he dreamed of being. I still remember his toast at their wedding—emotional, full of hope, overflowing with joy at the thought of building a life with Jonanne. Now, years later, I get to see that dream lived out in real time: a dad fully present, deeply supportive, and endlessly in love with his family.

To the Tuckers—thank you for continuing to let me be part of your story. Watching your family grow is a gift I don’t take for granted. I’ll always be in your corner.

All the best,

Carrie
