The Kitchen Itch

I've had an itch to overhaul a part of our kitchen for awhile and the month of May calmed down enough in our home to allow time for it. The weather also had to cooperate because I'd be spray painting a few items outside and they'd need to dry and cure outside for quite some time. So, without further adieu, here are some "before"s and "after"s:

I rearranged some things in other cupboards to clear away the clutter on the lower shelves of the island, then found some serving bowls and platters to feature there instead. I found the wicker desktop organizer at Target to hold mail instead of putting the mail in the soundboard of the wrought-iron piano.

Because I had a moment of wit and pun-i-ness, I put our car keys in the piano. That's about as clever as I get folks!

Now, for above the island, we've had a marker board there since we moved in (again, 4.5 years ago!) and we never actually wrote on it. As you can see in the above photo, it just kept getting covered up by papers, bills or magazine photos that were ideas for me. Talk about cluttered!

Also for the past 4 years, I've had a bulletin board in my office at school, and I didn't really need it there, so I brought her home. After some spray paint, scrapbooking paper I had on hand, cricut lettering and awesome glue-the Krupke Kitchen now has a menu board!

I need to make menu item cards and staple a card box to the board itself to hold them, but for now, at least it looks pretty! The cards will be next week's project.

First spray painting endeavor: COMPLETE! And Gerard even said it really brightened up the kitchen. I think he's on board the Spray Painting Train. :)
