Jeremy + Stacey : A Celebration Family Session

There are times where a photographer kicks themselves for not reaching out sooner and during our session, Stacey & I realized we’d both thought of the other person but decided to shake the thought away and handle the urgency in front of us.

Last year, as an 8th grader, Stacey & Jeremy’s daughter Molly was diagnosed with leukemia. You can read about Molly’s journey on their CaringBridge site, but really long story short, Molly received a bone marrow transplant in Minnesota to kick leukemia to the curb. It was prior to that transplant trip that Stacey and I had thought of each other to do a family photo shoot. There were so many ducks to get in a row for their trip and I forced myself to think positively that we would just do the session in the spring because Molly would be here and it would be a session to celebrate. I held my breath through the winter waiting to read the “all clear” message on Molly’s CaringBridge site. Praise the Lord, it came!! And as the weather warmed up, I sent Stacey a text to get on my schedule.

To say that all the prom-goers at the World Food Prize was a hurdle to this session happening would be calling it such a “first world problem”. And a hurdle far easier to overcome than B-Cell ALL Leukemia. Crowds of people have nothing on a fearless freshman like Molly. We re-routed and headed to Waterworks where roughly half the trees are in bloom and they perfectly match Stacey’s color scheme in their outfits! Jeremy & Stacey have been Team Krupke for the last three years and it felt so, SO good to give Team Molly’s members hugs to start our time together!!

Without further adieu, I give you Team Molly:

That last pose there was prompted by a “show cancer who’s boss” prompt…. :)

Team Molly - Thank you so much for rolling with the punches of a last minute change of venue and the heat! Who would’ve thought the heat would be an issue mid-April!? I’m so glad we were able to get these photos made to commemorate success and healing. What a gift! It’s an honor to document your family through Grant’s senior year and in this current stage of your family’s story. Jeremy’s jokes included! ;)

Take care,

Carrie
